Low Budget Pregnancy Belly Casting

I already mention that I’m nine months pregnant and this Sunday is my Due-Date. All I need to do now is to deliver the baby, but is seems he or she likes to live in my belly so right now nothing is happening, so I will wait a few days and I will see when and how we will get a new baby. But meanwhile, I still need to do some housework tasks and I also found time to make my huge belly for a sculpture. I bought a plaster in bandages and I play with it today, less then week before my Due-Date. The belly is huge and it was nice experience. I like the idea that I could have such a memory from this time of my life. I missed it when I was pregnant the first time and I regret that after my baby have a few months. This time I didn’t miss the opportunity, and I’m so happy about this.

Everything wasn’t so messy as I expected it will be, it’s surprisingly how clean is working with a plaster bandages. And it wasn’t expensive at all, just a few € for a memory like that. Unbelievable; the memory of something like this is priceless. I recommend this to everybody because, how many pregnancy do you think you will have in your life? I know you could make pictures and videos but 3D is something that lasts and you could touch it and you could show it to your kid; for me this is like a form of art.
For better belly shape and for really huge belly I made my Belly Casting standing up, and it was interested, when I lay down and I put the plaster shape on my belly that it wasn’t so huge, the best thinks about this was, that my baby was kicking as crazy today, and I easily count 10 kicks and some days I have a feeling that he or she sleep all day long.

What I will do with my Belly Castings? I will put some more plaster bandages pieces on thin spots (from the inside of the belly), because I don’t want to ruined it. Later I will sanded and prepare it with Gesso and maybe I will paint it too. After that I will put it on the wall as a masterpiece, because it will became a masterpiece.
So this is just a first part of the article, and I think I will show you at least one more, can’t wait for tomorrow that I will make a pictures of it. Hope the it won’t be rainy and gray day.

And it is a rainy day today….and very grayish. So just the evening photos of repairs.NOTE: when you will do you’re Belly Castings, don’t forget to put on your skin some barrier cream or something, like Vaseline, or coconut butter, or even ordinary butter, and enjoy in the process. For the chipset version of gypsum bandages look for them in the pharmacy store.

  1. Saw your site listed on your Instructable, I’ve often thought about making my son some soft/rugged shoes for stomping around the yard in the summer time.

Saw this belly project and I’ll keep it in mind if we’re ever expecting baby #2 :)

    Hope all is well
