With just one word? A loot, and much more. Thanks all of you who have your own blogs, and thanks for all article out there. Of course I didn’t read everything, but I did found a few really inspirational artists, and they are my hero’s. I love to learn new thinks from them.
I have just one problem, it is impossible to found the time to try all the great tips that they are offer and it is crazy how many great ides is there. There are even a few books that I would love to have or at least to have the opportunity to read it, but all this starts and ends with money. So I really appreciate all the information that are there for free.
Today I play with a painting and stamping on the fabric. Actually, I was even a little bit eco with my project, because I use one of my old to big sweater that I didn’t like it and it was time to say goodbye to it. So I take a scissors and reshape it in kid’s pants with a hoody. I still need to make a few seams, because I didn’t have time to finished it (my 3 months girl don’t want to sleep more then 30 minutes in a time)…so long story short: My old hoody sweater will became a new freshly panted kids hoody pants. Nice transformation?
I paint it with acrylic paint mixed with a fabric medium and I used a paintbrush and also the spongy roller. For the stamping I make stamps with”fun foam” that I glue it on a cardboard. I didn’t know it will be so easy to cut it so I need to make a lot more stamps for my future projects. This will be great, because I will use them together with my kid when she will want to paint or print something. We always enjoy in projects like that, so this is my great excuse for making more stamps. Can’t wait.
Actually this stamp I didn’t make my own, because she helped me. One “stamping day” she dirty her hands, so she did make a few hand stampings and then I transfer them on a backing paper (paper for making cookies), and then transfer that on a “fun foam” and cut it with an craft knife and glue it with a PVA glue on a cardboard. Simple.
What did I learn? I need to make a lot of stamps for the future projects, and I will try how it is to stamp on a fabric with textile paint also. The most important thing…for something like that you need to have a big table because working on floor is not so nice. And I didn’t have option to paint wet on wet…so I need to have a studio, or at least big table. The ping-pong table will be great. Maybe it is easy to paint if you don’t cut the fabric on small pieces, but this is impossible, if you want to recycle your old sweater, so jep, I need to improve my technique, but the most important is…this is so much fun, you need to try it yourself, and if you have a place to work do it with your kids…because you and they will have so much fun time.
Because I also use this project for my new pdf. pattern that I work on it, I totally forgot to make a freehand stitching before assembling the pants, because I really want to have this “fabric” made in mixed media style. I will see how much time I will have tomorrow to do this step.
PS: I want to make for this video, but I didn’t know that my battery is so empty…so maybe next time? If anybody is interested.
What are your experiences in this field? Stay tuned for the next time, when I will present the paints itself.
