Toy Box – Car

For this project I was inspired from Ikea Hackers and there fabulous kitchens for children. They usually use a wooden box and then they cut, glue, screw and paint and the finished resold is gorgeous.

I plan to use a wooden box also, but before I will see the Ikea, maybe I wouldn’t need it anymore. So I will use just wood 2 pieces of 30 x 80 cm and one piece 30 x 50 cm for the bottom.
I already have wheels at home and everything else is more or less just work, fun, more work, and play at the end.

Because I don’t have a place to do this at home, I ask my brother to saw the wood for me. And he did a nice job. It wasn’t easy, because I use a soft wood.
Work for this project look like this (the steps):
1. Step is making a really fast sketch in your favorite program (Rinoceros). I make it in Rhinoceros, because I wanted to see it in 3D.
2. Step transfer your plan to the wood, or. maybe before that make a paper plan 1:1

3. Take your wood to the workshop and start jig saw; or. if you have a nice brother ask him.
4. Because he also assemble the box, I need just to paint, glue and put all the nice accessories to the toy box. I will show you more of that later, but for now just one picture of the first coat of paint. I use acrylic in nice apple green color. I want to protect the wood, with an additional film of a transparent varnish, but before the varnish I need to sanded all the wood.

…. more how it look’s like when it will be finished, so see you next time.

PS. is somebody interested for the wooden plans? OK, maybe I should ask this when I will have finished pictures of this toy box.
