Packaging my products

When I sent my first package; I need to admit, that I wasn’t ready for it. I know that selling handmade, unique, you know the products, that are yours and not manufactures, need to be packed differently, than the ordinary bubble wrap envelope. It is not easy to be prepared for all your different products and to have all different boxes, envelopes and papers all ready for the first shipment. I still don’t have, but at least I have better picture in my head what I want to have.

The thing is to have something not from the post office and so I went to the recycling. I use my sewing machine and the newspaper. So, my packages are actually newspaper in my language (Slovenian), which I don’t need it anymore, sewn together with a bubble wrap or without it.

But this is not all. I like to stamp a little bit on this newspaper, so I have made a recycle linoleum stamp, and I plan to do them more, like some logo of sewing for sewing products, and some graphic machines, and some more. And I make also a linoleum stamp, for the sender (me) and I will glue this or sew to the package.

The new idea for my Antilop packaging is, to sew the cushion to the recycle newspaper envelope, and maybe to sew to that envelop also a sample of fabric, so I could pack it beforehand and I think it is nice touch, if the costumer get the package and he or she could see some piece before he actually open it.

Of course I need to improve all this, but I need to start at least and it could be it. OK, I will admit, nobody didn’t said that this is not nice or that they prefer the post envelopes, so I need to sell some more and more, and maybe somebody will said that my way is not nice or that they like it, or that I could improve it.

What is your opinion? How is the best way to do it, if you really want to say your costumer’s thank you and that you are glad that this somebody cares for your work and you appreciate it? I know really long question, but I’m really interested to know the answer.

  2. Lovely idea! I also like to recycle, and your packaging is gorgeous! What about sewing some simple bags? They could be embellished too. :)
